Indie-licious blog Hop Teaser

So today I've decided to share with you the best opening line I've ever written. It's from Bloodfire, the stand alone spin of the Forces of Nature series. This book will follow Amelia's brother after the events of the series. I know I'm being a little bit of a tease because this one won't be out until summer of 2014 at the earliest.

"Of all the djinn joints in all the world, she had to walk into mine. Ok, so the line's not a Xander Hoffman original, but some things are classics for a reason. I didn't need any supernatural senses to tell me she was Otherworldly. The exotic array of red and gold feathers scattered over her head in lieu of hair told me she was a phoenix, but her scantily clad body told me all I really needed to know."

If you enjoyed my teaser, the fun doesn't have to stop here. Hop on over to these other Indie-licious blogs and see what goodies they have to share.1

    Pardon My progress

Sharp Words is in the middle of a massive makeover, so it's going to look a little off as I finalize all the details so it can shine. I've wanted a very specific look for a long time, but I've only just now gotten to where it's achievable for me. So I will be tweaking for a couple days, but when I'm done, there will be all kinds of fun and exciting things to check out as we build up to the release party on Wednesday!

    Indie-licious blog hop

It's getting so these are the only blog posts I do! Anyway, this comes from just before the big surprise I got this week. I don't think it needs any set up, so enjoy.

“What did he mean, what’s happening between us?” I looked at Logan shyly through my lashes. It was one thing to crush on a boy—which certainly wasn’t happening here, of course—but a whole different ball game when someone else just assumes you are because you’re trying to help the other person.

“I’m guessing he means the connection I feel to you, like I know you and just forgot. It’s like having something on the tip of your tongue, and if I could just remember…”

I cocked my head at him. That was a fitting description for the connection I felt with him. But what did it mean?

Like that? Well check out these other great teasers (if you haven't already)!

    The Haunting Season Book Blitz

If you're a regular reader, you know I am in love with the The Haunting Season by Michelle Muto. So it should come as no surprise then that I am part of the Book Blitz. For those of you haven't read it, check out my review below. But before we get into it, let's get you a little more familiar with this amazing book.

The Haunting Season by Michelle Muto
    Publication date: December 21st 2012
    by Dreamscapes, Ink
    Genre: NA Paranormal/Ghosts

    Synopsis:
Be careful what you let in…

Siler House has stood silent beneath Savannah’s moss-draped oaks for decades. Notoriously haunted, it has remained empty until college-bound Jess Perry and three of her peers gather to take part in a month-long study on the paranormal. Jess, who talks to ghosts, quickly bonds with her fellow test subjects. One is a girl possessed. Another just wants to forget. The third is a guy who really knows how to turn up the August heat, not to mention Jess’s heart rate…when he’s not resurrecting the dead.

The study soon turns into something far more sinister when they discover that Siler House and the dark forces within are determined to keep them forever. In order to escape, Jess and the others will have to open themselves up to the true horror of Siler House and channel the very evil that has welcomed them all.

    Review:
Sounds pretty good, right? Well let me tell you in all new words how true that is. This was one of the spookiest books I've read in a very long time. I'm not even kidding when I say I had to take breaks to let my heart stop pounding in my chest. The story didn't take long to gather steam and then it was one breath stealing scene after another. I laughed, I yelled, I covered my mirrors.

One of the things I loved about this book was I could never tell if it was going to be a blood soaked horror fest, a sweet paranormal thriller, or a spooky mystery. The truth is it's all three. I can't support my statement without getting all spoilery and that would do you all a disservice. I seriously loved this book, and I highly recommend you read it. During the day. With lots of people in the house. And no visible mirrors.

Want more? Check out this excerpt.

    Giveaway:
I'm proud to announce I get to give away an ebook copy of the book. Just leave a comment on this blog, telling me your scariest ghost story. I will use random.org on May 16 to select a winner. If you don't wanna wait, you can buy The Haunting Season from Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Indie-licious teaser ~ Late as usual....

A little late, but better late than never. To go with my teaser this week, I"m sharing my working cover. I have an artist more talented than myself working on hte one I really want, but until he finishes it, I'm using this one.... And obviously, the teaser comes from the new book, too.

I fidgeted, biting my lip as I tried to figure out how to tell them. “Antonio’s in the hospital.”

They gasped, exchanging wide-eyed glances. Charlotte found her voice first. “Is he going to be ok?”

I choked back a sob that was trying to escape. “They aren’t sure. The doctor said they were optimistic. What does that even mean?”

Violet patted my hand. “Well, honey, it means they think he’ll be fine but they can’t say so because—”

“I know what it means!” I roared, cutting her off. She recoiled and guilt washed over me. “I’m sorry Vi, you didn’t deserve that.”

“It’s ok, honey, you have every right to be emotional.”
I flopped into a chair, putting my head into my hands. “Being emotional is what got me into this mess.”
